I googled “is Tony Stark a war criminal” hoping to find at least ONE post agreeing with me that he is not a war criminal.

Boy, was that a fucking mistake.

Also, everyone absolutely adores interchanging “war profiteer” with “war criminal” when it comes to Tony Stark; probably because they will always associate Tony with the word “criminal”

Now, I wish I could say he wasn’t a war profiteer, but the definition of a war profiteer is “any person or organization that derives profit from warfare or by selling weapons and other goods to parties at war.”  Which he did, so he was.

HOWEVER.

The definition of a war crime (or criminal) is “is a violation of the laws of war that gives rise to individual criminal responsibility for actions by the combatants, such as intentionally killing civilians or intentionally killing prisoners of war, torture, taking hostages, unnecessarily destroying civilian property, deception by perfidy, wartime sexual violence, pillaging, the conscription of children in the military, committing genocide or ethnic cleansing, the granting of no quarter despite surrender, and flouting the legal distinctions of proportionality and military necessity.”  Now, I know that there are one of these that anti-Tony people love to scream and shout…..but there’s something extremely hypocritical about their argument and their other MCU beliefs (which I’m going to talk about further down).

And they further push the belief “Tony Stark is a was criminal who deserved to be convicted and executed for his war crimes because he worked with the military.”

Which is fucking hilarious given their love and support for many other characters in the MCU…..who have had just as much involvement in the military as Tony (and by extension, Rhodey) have.

(Below is long, but I need to get it out)

My Problem with Wanda and Pietro

First of all, they joined a Nazi organization.

But Logan! you cry, they only did it because the eViL Tonky dropped a bomb on them.

Alright, Tony might have owned the Company that designed the bomb but that doesn’t mean he designed it specifically. It would be irrational to assume that Tony was the only bomb designer at SI.

But even if he had designed that bomb, that doesn’t give you an okay to join HYDRA! Yes, they reserve the right to hate Tony Stark. To them, he’s a celebrity, untouchable, so he’s easy to blame. But joining HYDRA is not something I can defend.

Secondly, Wanda intentionally mindfucked the Hulk and set him loose onto an African City that is highly populated. As someone who’s African, that’s fucking terrifying. Because nobody cared! Nobody cared that she intentionally tried to hurt innocent people to further her agenda against the Avengers.

Tony might seem like a big bad villain to Wanda and Pietro. He might seem like an arrogant hero who caused the deaths of innocents and only stopped because his weapons put him in danger (which completely missed the point of Iron Man, but okay).

But Tony actually stopped because he realized that his weapons actually hurt inncoents and that he had no control on where they ended up and who they hurt.

However, Wanda and Pietro put hundreds of African lives in danger and willingly joined a clearly evil robot and only backed out when they realized they would die along with the rest of humanity.

So Tony gets a bunch of hate for following in his father’s footsteps and for the mistakes he tries to constantly make up for ,,,, but Weny and Petty Maxipad get free admission to the Avengers and a clean slate with no actual attempts of redemption on their parts.

Tony Stark appreciation.

Captain America Civil War:

Tony Stark, the genius that he is faces Winter Soldier, a guy with 50+ years of assassination experience without the support of his armor, to protect him.

Tony Stark faced a deadly assassin without his gold-titanium armor.

Winter Soldier aims the gun at Tony's head. Tony would have died with his brains getting blown out.

Yet, Tony doesn't hesitate to face Soldier, and stops him.

Not his Iron man armor but in three piece Tom Ford suit.

He not only tries, but also succeeded to disarm Winter Soldier. Again without his armor.

Not only is this a cool scene but also shows that Tony doesn't need his armor to be a hero.

So according to some stans Tony Stark is the bad guy for creating weapons for the US military, you know something that his father did before him and most importantly is LEGAL, but they like Steve Rogers, Captain America who is a military propaganda and literally says that 'safest hands are own' after entering a country and blowing it up.

This same bitch has the audacity to say that he knows the best because he has some fancy Serum?

Here is the thing.....

Am I still mad as hell for how CACW ended- you bet I am.

Do I grit my teeth when I think about how Steve got a Happily Ever After but Tony didn't- absolutely.

Do I hiss in anger when I think of how MCU still beats on Tony even though he is DEAD now and should be left alone- your damn right I do.

Have I been reading the 'Not Team Cap Friendly ' tag for the last few hours over at AO3.....maybe but I don't care. Fanfiction of my own choosing is now my Canon and I will ignore anything and everything that contradicts that.

In Siberia, Tony had to see his parents assassination while standing next to the murderer and a person who knew the truth the entire time. And yet he shouldn't have attacked, instead should have rolled over and remembered that Bucky was brainwashed.

But it was a-okay for Maximoffs to join HYDRA to kill Tony in AOU, because the bomb that killed their parents had Stark Industries written on it. It was justice apparently.

And guess what, between Bucky and Tony, only one of them had a direct hand in the murders.

Tony and Steve’s decisions in CA:CW were totally foreshadowed. Right in the first Avenger, Steve had no problem tossing people aside to chase bad guys but all through his trilogy, Tony had tried to keep the fight away from civilians (trying to tell Obadiah not to hurt civilians, catching the civilians, catching civilians falling from a plane, stirring AIM people attacking him away from civilians, scaring civilians so they’ll leave during his fight with Rhodey), was the one to build the suits directing the civilians away from fights in AoU, and was the one to put the nuke inside the portal to keep the city safe. Most of this at the expense of catching the bad guys/his own safety. AoU wasn’t the only reason Tony signed the accords. He always believed in them.

you know what bothers me about team cap the most? his stans; like seriously all I can smell is 💫hypocrites💫

like they're constantly shitting on Tony because "he is a war criminal and builds weapons for military" but they don't look twice at Steve and Bucky and Sam and ... who were ACTUALLY used weapons and WERE into wars and did kill people there.

they hate him when he sees his mother strangle to death by the man in front of him and wants pay back because "but Bucky was mind controlled" but they love Wanda when she KNOWINGLY joined Hydra to get superpowers and get back at Tony WHO DIDN'T LAUNCH THE FUCKING BOMB AT HER HOUSE; HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT HIS COMPANY IS SELLING WEAPONS TO THOSE ASSHOLES!

they want him to accept the responsibility for his mistakes and when he does and tries to make things right and listens to people's and countries wishes about the accords they shit on him again; but when Wanda enslaved a town and mentally tortures them and flies away without a single sorry they worship her.

and don't tell me that she's a child; she's so fucking not! she never was! she was 22/3 when we first saw her joining Ultron and unleash Hulk on a city full of civilians. you know who's an actuall child? Peter parker! he was 15 when we first saw him and 19 when did what he did in NWH! you think Wanda would ever do something like Peter? do you think she would EVER sacrifice that much? and she's around her 30s at the moment .

and don't get me start on Captain I'm always right Rodgers . I'm so done with him

I’ll never understand how people can excuse Wanda’s actions like joining up with hydra, teaming up with Ultron or mind controlling a town( she didn’t know at first but when she found out she didn’t try to fix it ) they’ll excuse her because she’s grieving. These same people will shit on Tony for attacking Bucky when he finds out his parents were actually murdered and would also be grieving for them AGAIN.

Apparently only Wanda gets the grieving excuse.

I never understand those people who think that what Wanda Maximoff did in her grief was right and what Tony did was not.

Let me explain.

In Wanda Vision, Wanda holds an entire town hostage, making them her personal puppets because she lost her microwave. And people defend her. Saying how she was grieving and it is understandable.

But these same people say that Tony should have remembered that Winter Soldier was mind controlled by Hydra when he came to know the truth behind his parent's death, while standing 2 ft away from his parents murderer and a liar.

So only Wanda can experience grief, not Tony?

Double Standards much?
